Blackstar Engineering Ltd: Custom composite manufacturing and more.

Donny Guiden was born in Ireland and his work career started there building of a pair of Howth 17's for the local yacht club to the original 1897 specifications.

 Next job was a bit of a change, working on the build of NCB Ireland for the 1989 Whitbread Round the World Race. This was quickly followed by a trip over the sea to build Rothmans a competitor in the same race.

       Many interesting and varied projects followed in far-flung places before settling at Tropical Engineering in Cowes, UK. These years were very important for honing skills and developing methodology in what was at the time new technology. Notable projects include booms for America's Cup yachts and Shirley Robertson's Europe Dinghy wingmast to name but a few.

       Since 2007 I have worked for myself culminating in the formation of Blackstar Engineering Ltd which I set up to specialize in the manufacture and development of bespoke composites. The sailing industry still makes up the majority of the work I do but as you can see from my projects page it is not limited to just that. Recent highlights for me have been the four gold and two silver medals that Team GB won at the Rio Olympics in projects which I was directly involved in.
